Friends of Fossil Forests, Corp (FFF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting petrified wood research, education, and conservation internationally without boundaries. 

Mission & History

Friends of Fossil Forests (FFF) was founded by a diverse group of individuals, including professional and amateur paleobotanists. Our team of citizen scientists, educators, and students share a common interest in petrified wood and the stories behind it. FFF is organized and operated exclusively for charitable scientific and educational purposes.

Friends of Fossil Forests is dedicated to promoting petrified wood research, education, and conservation through collaboration and community engagement. We strive to support individuals and organizations of all backgrounds and levels of experience with fossil wood to match local needs while promoting awareness for paleobotanical research and education. We believe in inclusivity and welcome members from all backgrounds, ages, nationalities, races, genders, careers, and disabilities.

Friends of Fossil Forests is dedicated to promoting petrified wood research, education, and conservation through collaboration and community engagement.

 Research

To support petrified wood research, education, and conservation, and bridge the gap between researchers and citizen scientists.

Education

To educate individuals (e.g., amateurs, citizen scientists, students, educators) and groups (e.g., local communities, museums, protected areas) on petrified wood identification, preparation techniques, fossilization, exhibition, conservation, and sustainable development practices.

Inspire

To inspire more people, especially new generations, to become paleobotanists.
