Dr. Elisabeth Wheeler is a Professor Emerita at North Carolina State University. Her research focuses on fossil dicot woods. She is a noted authority on the behavior of cats and is also an expert on calendar design, and is perhaps the leading authority on obscure holidays. In her spare time,  Dr. Wheeler has been known to sometimes look at microscopic images of fossil wood, mostly as a source of designs for her various artistic creations. She is reputed to be an expert at identifying many obscure wood taxa. Dr. Wheeler's professional productivity has suffered from the predilection of her cats for sleeping in front of her computer, but despite this challenge, she is the author of many scientific publications. (Perhaps the cats are demanding to be listed as coauthors).
