Paleobotany Educational Toolkit Workshop
Description
Paleobotany is a branch of science regarding fossil wood (petrified wood) which is still not very well known in Indonesia, even though fossil wood resources are found in many areas in Indonesia. To support the preservation and dissemination of information about native Indonesian wood fossils, a "Paleobotany Education Toolkit Training" will be held, which will be guided by Indonesian paleobotanists who have long worked at the Bandung Geological Museum and are currently working at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic Indonesia.
This training, which is supported by the National Geographic Society, was primarily aimed at students at SMP Negeri (Public Middle School) 3 Denpasar, but we open opportunities for science or Biology and Geography teachers at middle to senior high school level (preferably teaching and living in Bali) to take part in this training. The workshop was held at:
Saturday, June 8th, 2024, 9 AM - 3 PM Central Indonesia Time
UC Silver Gallery & Kitchen
Gianyar, Bali
In total, 30 students, 12 teachers, and 2 college students participated and learned about the toolkit. Fifteen toolkits were given to SMP Negeri 3 Denpasar, 9 toolkits for each biology/geography teacher, 1 toolkit for an expert, and 4 toolkits for Museums (Xylarium Bogoriense, Bandung Geology Museum, and Global Geopark Merangin, Jambi).
